Astrid Hood

Artist Bio
Astrid studied fine art and obtained a degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Guelph. Working with Metro Conservation had the most impact on her themes and philosophy in painting landscapes. Her home is on the shores of Lake Scugog where her art often gets inspired by daily sunset views to create artworks. She paints with acrylics and sometimes mixed media on canvas but she also transforms fabrics, furniture, upholstery, wood, Muskoka chairs and canoe paddles. Astrid is an active member in local arts groups such as, Kawartha Art Gallery, Kawartha Arts Network, Kawartha Arts Council, Eastern Central Ontario Art Association, Port Perry Art Association and Scugog Arts Council. Artworks have been on display at galleries such as: the Donna Child Fine Art Gallery Toronto; Leslie Grove Gallery Toronto; the Kawartha Art Gallery Lindsay; Art Gallery of Bancroft; Meta4 Contemporary Art Gallery Port Perry; Scugog Council for Arts in Port Perry; Station Gallery Whitby; The Museum of Art and History Orillia and at the annual Mystery of The Park Art Exhibition at Algonquin Park Visitors Centre. She has a piece in the Ontario Legislature in Queens Park, Toronto for the Art à la Carte -Celebrating Ontario Artists for the year 2026. She is a Paint Night Host and you may find her sharing her skills at local venues such as at Old Flame Brewery or Two Blokes Cider in Port Perry.
