Lauren Walker

My name is Lauren Walker and I am “The Artist Within.” I am a self taught professional artist from Port Perry, Ontario and my chosen medium is acrylic. My professional art career started three and a half years ago during a very tumultuous time in my life.  I was struggling with depression and anxiety at the time. I picked up the paint brush and never looked back! My motivation to succeed is fueled by my desire to be extraordinary.

 I’ve taken many courses with professional artists and it has only benefitted my career. I've had two solo gallery shows thus far and I have two more lined up for later in 2024. I plan to have another solo gallery show in 2025. I’ve won local and multiple international awards in juried shows. My work has also been published in multiple art magazines. My work is now being showcased internationally which means another dream has come true. Art is not a hobby, it is my purpose.

What is art? It encapsulates our deepest thoughts and feelings and is a brave form of self expression. It is more than slapping paint on canvas, we put our heart and soul in to each piece. We willingly subject ourselves to judgement and criticism. Why do we do it? Art is more about the artist than the audience. We would create regardless of how others receive it. It is a need and compulsion to express ourselves. It fills our soul and quenches our desire to lead an extraordinary existence. Art is not a hobby, it is my purpose. I want to share myself with the world and live my true calling.
