Artist Statement
My love of painting began at an early age but it wasn’t until retirement that I could fully embrace my passion for art.
Inspired by the beauty of Northern Ontario, the prairies of my childhood, and the simple moments of everyday life, I paint what moves me. Working primarily in oils, I love the freedom of Impressionism, using loose brushstrokes, colour and light to bring my paintings to life.
My subjects are varied, from landscapes and still life to those fleeting moments that stir a memory or bring a smile.
For me, painting is about more than capturing a scene. It’s about capturing a feeling.
My greatest joy is knowing that something I’ve painted has brought a little beauty, warmth or happiness into someone’s life.
